Interfaith Prayer  Service

Monthly Prayer Service the 11th of every month

Please join us every 11th of the month, at First Christian Church in Eugene, Oregon at 7:00 p.m.-with a prelude beginning at 6:45 p.m. to experience what is possible when we come together with intent to accept our neighbors and the sacred path that they follow.

The Interfaith Prayer Service provides a special occasion to pray for peace, remember our loved ones, reflect upon the interconnectedness of all beings, and to uplift our hearts and minds. Its purpose is to bring together people from different faith communities in the spirit of harmony, peace, and growing appreciation, and to nurture confidence in the universal power of love and unity that transcends all earthly limitations.

The Interfaith Prayer Service was begun in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001 through the vision of Siri Kaur Khalsa and a committed group of representatives from the faith traditions practiced in Eugene, Oregon.

Since October of 2001, on the 11th of each month, people have gathered at First Christian Church, 1166 Oak Street, Eugene, Oregon, to share in a common desire to create understanding through prayer. At times, attendance for these events has swelled to more than 500. Each month's service is based on a theme chosen by members of the coordinating board.

Representatives from more than 30 faith traditions are chosen on a rotating basis with consideration given to those traditions most common in our area. Representatives share scripture, dance, song, chant, poetry and other forms of devotion from their faith tradition. In this prayer service, always guided by the mission statement found above, the Eugene/Springfield community has created a unique place of acceptance, understanding, and compassion for our fellow sisters and brothers in faith.
